Born in opposition to cyberpunk\u2019s dystopian and apocalyptic tendencies, solarpunk is an artistic and political movement that promotes an optimistic vision of the future. It fosters new narratives to highlight solutions and address current environmental and social issues. Technology is not excluded from these scenarios; rather, it is harnessed to support alternative lifestyles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Solar Device<\/em> project thus presents itself as a laboratory for the future of technology. It is either a desirable machine or a utopian project for a future society. The installation, powered solely by solar panels located outside the exhibition hall, operates according to the energy reserves available to it. A series of LED panels, arranged in a circle, power twelve Mendocino motors that rotate while levitating thanks to the photons received by their mini solar panels. Invented by Bell Labs at the same time as photovoltaic cells, these motors have just enough energy to power themselves. In real time, taking into account the cycle of our star, the time of day, and daily weather conditions, Solar Device<\/em>\u2014constantly seeking its energy balance\u2014manages its energy reserves and adapts its luminous and kinetic behavior. The more energy it has available, the faster it spins; the scarcer its resources, the more conservatively it operates. In the exhibition space, binaural waves envelop viewers from four speakers. This hypnotic sound, modulated by the number of revolutions made by the Mendocino motors, directly reflects Solar Device\u2019s<\/em> energy state. In contrast to the entropic forces that generate chaos and destruction, Solar Device<\/em> invites us to collectively envision a more resilient mode of organization and resource use. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Aram Kebabdjian<\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n\n \n \n

St\u00e9fane Perraud and Aram Kebabdjian have been working together for 10 years. They are developing a practice at the intersection of art, scientific research, and environmental humanities. Their work examines measurement methods, standards of evidence, and ways of sensitively interpreting ecological phenomena, by integrating data, technical protocols, and contemporary narratives. Their work explores the relationships between landscape, listening, and immersion through installations, compositions, and site-specific works. <\/span>Together, they create narrative machines. Straddling the lines between fiction and documentary, art and science, literature and mythology, and ranging from sculptural installations to transmedia works, their work seeks to create an archaeology of our time. Their work has been presented at Plateforme 10 in Lausanne, at the CENTQUATRE and the BAL in Paris, at the Lieu Unique in Nantes, at the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles, and at the FRAC Corsica…<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>

St\u00e9fane Perraud<\/h2>\n

St\u00e9fane Perraud was born in 1975, he lives and works in Paris. He graduated from Decorative Arts school in Paris, and obtained a post diploma in an interactive research workshop in 2001. He obtained a residency at the College de France within the framework of Open Lab in 2011 and a Pictanovo development grant in 2013 for an art\/science project linked to nuclear power.<\/p>\n

His field of research, linked to the energy of matter and light, regularly prompts him to collaborate with writers and scientists. His work opens up a dialogue which is sometimes fictitious, with the imperceptible and the infrathin, and which aims to connect the various activities of the human soul with the intimacy of matter. His favorite tools and formats are hybridizations that he obtains and deconstructs using new media and advanced science and techniques.<\/p>\n

Since 2003, he has collaborated with several artists in the world of theater, dance and performance (Eli Commins, Trajal Harell, Ali Moini\u2026). He regularly exhibits his work in France and abroad (Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, Coll\u00e8ge des Bernardins, Mus\u00e9e de la Chasse in Paris, Maison Particuli\u00e8re in Brussels, Manoa Art Center in Hawaii, White Room in Quebec\u2026).
