Leo Africanus: 2527<\/em> is an interactive immersive installation that transports the 16th-century traveler Leo Africanus into a speculative future. By combining photogrammetry, artificial intelligence, and real-time interaction, the project explores cultural and historical memory through a narrative approach where history meets the subversive tactics of digital technology. Through alternative scenarios developed by various local authors, this experience explores the impact of past representations and their potential reinterpretations in the future. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Mounir Ayache<\/h2>\n
<\/div>\n\n \n \n

Born in 1991, the Franco-Moroccan artist Mounir Ayache invites us to take a fresh look at the political and social realities of the Arab world through his technological creations. He graduated from the \u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2017 and was a resident at the Villa Medici (2022\u20132023 session).<\/span><\/p>\n

By drawing on the conventions of science fiction\u2014which he blends with family histories and an imaginative reappropriation of Arab experiences and identities\u2014 he is part of the unofficial movement known as Arabfuturism, influenced by 1990s Afrofuturism, which draws on fiction to propose alternative narratives. Mounir Ayache parodies Western fiction\u2019s portrayals of the Other and the Foreigner, and uses new technologies to create and convey his ideas, thereby blurring the lines between contemporary art and entertainment. <\/span><\/p>\n
