The fourth edition of the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries has come to a close, with joy, poetry and a certain twinge of sadness. For three months, exhibitions, performances, shows, meetings and concerts punctuated the Southern Region.
Today, it’s time for us to express our sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to making this 2024-2025 edition such a wonderful adventure.
To the public, to reach out to the public, to speak to everyone and to do things together: that’s what we wanted for this year’s Biennale.
With 102,504 visitors who once again turned out in Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Avignon, Istres and Arles to discover the exhibitions, the prelude, the inaugural evenings, the Marché des Imaginaires Numériques, and the closing week, it was a successful gamble. Thanks to you, this event has established itself as a time of rich exchange and dialogue between the public, professionals and artists around the theme of Pleasure and the social, political and ethical issues transformed by technology.
To our volunteers, for your interest, motivation and enthusiasm in joining our team and sharing this adventure with us.
To our institutional, cultural and private partners and sponsors, to those who have been with us since the first edition and to those who have recently placed their trust in us to bring this magnificent project to reality.
To our international guests and partners, – Lithuania, our Guest of Honor, the Netherlands, our Focus, and Quebec and Switzerland as showcases – for helping to enrich this year’s program.
To the technical, production, communications, mediation, administration, corporate relations and European projects teams, for their hard work and dedication throughout the conception and implementation of this Biennial, carried out with perseverance, dynamism and confidence.
And to the artists, professionals and speakers, whose creations, discourses and imaginations deployed throughout this edition have reaffirmed the role and importance of art in rethinking the world and alternative narratives.
Thank you to all of you who, once again this year, have made the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries a zone of joy and a welcoming space for controversy and the common good.
Created in 2018 and organized by CHRONIQUES – the Biennale des Imaginaires Numériques is the highlight of digital arts and culture in the Southern region. Exploring the visual arts, the sound arts and live performance, the Biennial focuses on the presence and use of digital and new technologies in art, invests the public space and gives a voice to national and international artists from different backgrounds.
In a world of mounting environmental and social crises, for the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries 2024, we’re like to reflect on the place of pleasure in our daily lives: how can we imagine new sources of joy despite today’s challenges?
