Founded in 2018 and organized by CHRONIQUES, the Biennale des Imaginaires Numériques is the premier event for digital arts and culture in the Sud region.
By exploring the visual arts, sound art, and the performing arts, the Biennale examines the presence and use of digital media and new technologies in art, takes over public spaces, and gives a voice to national and international artists from diverse backgrounds.
Co-curators: Mathieu Vabre, artistic director; Jean Paul Fourmentraux, guest curator
For the past 20 years, digital technologies have permeated every aspect of our lives—from the private sphere to geopolitical dynamics—and artists have become witnesses, critical observers, and also active participants in a necessary counter-narrative. For its 2026 edition, the Biennale des Imaginaires Numériques, which takes place across Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Arles, Avignon, Istres, and Port de Bouc—aims to explore the forms of artistic resistance in the face of the normative, extractivist, and oppressive logics of contemporary technologies.

We are recruiting volunteers to join our team and be part of this adventure alongside the artists and the CHRONIQUES teams.
By joining the volunteer team, you’ll be able to:
– take part in the Biennale’s highlights (opening nights, industry days, etc.)
– meet the artists and get a behind-the-scenes look at the programming
– enjoy special access and free admission to events
– have an enriching personal and professional experience
