A proposal by Festival Parallèle

On a deep blue floor, a woman and a man perform their love relationship to the point of exhaustion: a contemporary pas de deux, in the violence of the norm.
A celebration of love, or of the suffering of love? The “pas de deux” comes with its own historical charge. It is, par excellence, the dance structure in which the normative imagery of heterosexuality flourishes.
Here, the dancers are locked together. Their bodies, summoned to interact – to hold hands, to support each other in a figure, to carry each other – become embroiled in a spiral of oppression. How, through the exhaustion of gestures, will these bodies be able to resist on their own, and detach themselves from this imposed choreography?
A proposal by Festival Parallèle in co-production with CHRONIQUES – Biennial of Digital Imaginaries.
