In Wonderland, the artists of the deletere collective explore the mechanisms of perception and the transformation of mental images during reading. When we read a text, particularly a work as rich and imaginative as Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, our minds form fluctuating, personal images. Each reader recreates his or her own visual world, influenced by imagination, memories and emotions.

The deletere collective seeks to reproduce this mental process through artificial intelligence. The installation doesn’t simply film and passively retransmit public space. It manipulates these images fluidly and unpredictably, like a mind in a dream. Like a reader who interprets text in his own way, the AI “reads” the work and interprets it visually. The filmed scenes become distorted, fragmented and reorganized, mimicking the subjective, abstract experience of thoughts that arise while reading. The artists’ aim is to explore the contrast between the real and the imaginary, while questioning the machine’s ability to recreate the human experience of literary interpretation.

By transposing the reading of Alice in Wonderland into a transformed visual stream, they propose a reflection on how the human mind interprets and alters reality through the lens of fiction. It also raises questions about the role of artificial intelligence as creator or mere replicator, seeking to capture that subtle boundary between human control and technological autonomy in artistic creation.
