“Night life”, in its contemporary meaning, is often associated to a high-spirited domain of intense collective activity.
At the other end of the spectrum, the night is also an opportunity to regain a relationship with one’s own privacy, which, in a passage of time that is returned to the solitary individual, which moves away from the constant expectation that every minute and every second available to us should be filled.
In a period marked by the increasing blurring of the lines between the professional and private spaces, where a break from time spent working becomes more and more pressing – does resting, having a moment to oneself not, in itself, represent a form of disobedience?
Through an installation comprising sleeping pods – the chambers used in Capsule hotels – which the audience are invited into, the Captive project will offer an intimate face-to-face encounter with an audiovisual piece that is at the same time close and strangely absent.

Romain Tardy
Romain Tardy has been working in the field of contemporary visual creation since 2008. His work, developed as a series of poetic experiences using light, video mapping, objects and sound, can often be found in numerous countries around the world. The matter of our relationship with technology as well as the bearing it has on our society are at the heart of his work. That said, Romain Tardy refutes the “digital art” tag—his first goal is to create tangible artworks and physical offline experiences in which the screen is never the limit.
