CE SOIR ON DANSE AVEC LES LOUPS

ELIO LIBAUDE

Installation and visual art

“Tonight we dance with the wolves” is an artistic project that combines the worlds of techno culture and financial marketing.

These two seemingly antinomic universes are each in their own domain behemoths that generate astronomical sums of money. Globalization and liberalism have allowed the expansion of these two worlds. Techno, underground music in its roots, has become mainstream, commercialized by large international groups. Stock market investment funds are found in all aspects of our daily lives. Through their respective codes, the artist questions their desire to influence in this moment of collective history, where the rupture has never been so close.

The viewer is immersed in a space where the repetition of simple phrases, of repetitive visual and musical codes, draws him into a collective movement. The visual codes of an electronic music festival are mixed with those of large economic organizations. The project wants to be a space of reflection on the hybridization between the universe of economic marketing and that of electronic music. The techno event, this festive space totally dedicated to pleasure and dance, becomes a political space that makes fun of the excesses of financial marketing.

Artist

Élio Libaude (FRA)

Born in 1989, Elio Libaude has lived and worked in Marseille since 2004. A 2018 graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence, he undertook a multidisciplinary practice there, between installations, photographs, videos, performances, and sound. His work is part of the creation of fictional universes, impregnated by the science of life, marketing, communication and technological advances.

The use of new image techniques such as 3D computation, allows him to create vast landscapes, where he addresses current societal issues. From his studies in graphic design, then in fine arts, his work questions the meaning of images, their force of influence, or how communication through new channels of distribution, social networks, generates cognitive dissonance.
