Fernand Léger Art Center
, Port de Bouc
Exhibition conceived and produced by the Fernand Léger Art Center
This participatory exhibition by the collective “Les Nouveaux Collectionneurs” explores the concept of Resistance and features works from the Port de Bouc collection, loaned works, and the results of Olivier Bémer’s artist residency. Resistance is an essential element in all struggles against dictates and injustices—the obstacles erected in the path of human, social, and even societal progress.
Olivier Bémer’s film and sculpture installation project draws on the tradition of “worker wigs,” echoing the industrial context of Port de Bouc. In the workshops and factories of the 20th century, “perruquer” involved diverting time away from work and secretly taking materials to craft personal items on the sly.
