Black Afterlight

Immersive holographic video installation

The Biennale Continues

Thursday, January 28, Friday, January 29, and Saturday, January 30

Festival Parallèle
Marseille

“Black Afterlight ” is a holographic video installation that questions the absence of magic in technological imaginaries. Through three-dimensional images projected by a holographic device, a dancer appears and disappears, like a glitch brought to life. This spectral choreography defies the logic of visual capture, exploring blurring, opacity, and flight as tactics of resistance. As the first stage of a larger project, the work foreshadows a solar-powered device activated during Vodun rituals in Benin. By combining digital art, cosmopolitics, and diasporic spirituality, *Black Afterlight* offers a diffracted cinema that transforms the image into a space of healing, dissonance, and liberation.
