“Panoramythique” is an immersive video installation that explores narratives stemming from colonial history through a combination of projection, shadow theater, 3D-printed objects, and spatial design. By blending archival material with fiction, the project stages a dialogue between the Sphinx and Napoleon, symbolic figures around whom hybrid imaginaries are constructed. The image becomes narrative material in a sensory environment that questions the creation of myths and their persistence.
Amir Youssef
Amir, an Egyptian artist and filmmaker, divides his time between Paris and Alexandria. A graduate of the University of Alexandria (painting, 2015), the Aix-en-Provence School of Art (Master’s degree), and Le Fresnoy – National Studio for Contemporary Arts, he is committed to fighting social inequalities in education and culture, which influences both his art and his teaching.
His works critique colonial history, explore the absurdity of war and postcolonial narratives, and poetically reinterpret religious themes. His research on visual culture and media archaeology examines movement and narrative (sculpture, installation, film, video). This has led to “Kinemania,” his term for society’s fascination with visual movement, as expressed through kinetic objects.
