While leaks related to the Strava fitness app reveal how GPS data can expose sensitive information—from military bases (2018) to the whereabouts of heads of state (2024), to the route of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle (2026)—the KUDOS installation highlights our ability to read these traces and recognize them as a form of writing. Much like the stories we made up as children while watching the clouds, the work explores the narrative potential embedded in data. Through a coloring book that blends intentional GPS tracks derived from Strava art with unintentional ones, the project revives this forgotten sensibility and uses open-source analysis to highlight the political implications of geolocation.
