Portraits of engineers, managers, and theorists who have contributed to the development of one of the pillars of the capitalist system: planned obsolescence. These portraits of “heroes” are themselves subject to this principle of obsolescence. They are doomed to disappear sooner or later. One day, these images will suddenly vanish, going up in flames. Martin Le Chevallier
Born in May 1968 in France, Martin Le Chevallier is a visual artist, author, and teacher. Rooted in humor and satire, his works readily engage with the public sphere—whether urban, economic, or political. He had a consulting firm conduct an audit, installed a tourist telescope above a hypermarket, and for the past few years has been proposing projects just so they can be rejected. In 2024, he published *The Directory of Subversions*, a compendium of tactics employed by artists, activists, resistance fighters, and eccentrics. Since then, he has been working to put this research into practice, at the intersection of art and activism.
