INVU consists of seven sand sculptures, each incorporating a wireless speaker and a motion sensor. These objects, designed by artist Eva Vedel, are inspired by biomorphism; they appear as forms in the making—unstable, porous, and permeated by the forces around them.
They can be picked up and moved by the public; each movement alters the sound material and its spatialization, transforming the perception of the whole. The melodies they emit draw their inspiration from a reinvented lyricism, giving rise to a shared space that is both fragile and strong: a refuge where one can draw strength from resilience and connection.
Singer Isabel Sörling will perform live, and this dynamic performance will extend and enrich the relational dimension of the installation, while guiding the audience as they explore the work.
INVU draws on “The Power of Gentleness” and “In Praise of Risk,” two essays by philosopher Anne Dufourmantelle—in which each of these concepts is viewed as a political force, an act of resistance and action. These are forces capable of countering the tensions of confrontation and of opposing the tragedy of war-related violence with an energy of transformation and care.
Clément Édouard
A composer and audio artist, Clément Édouard focuses on the nature of sound, his field of vibration and his perception, and his relationship with natural places and materials to create listening experiences that are simultaneously imaginary, physical, internal… He fosters a unique relationship with the vocal and the subtle, and delves particularly into notions of lightness and intensity, of the presence/absence of natural/composed echoes. His approach looks like an exploration, which he indulges by discerning zones of shadow, identifying mysteries, and by mapping it out.
