In *Hybrid Memory*, Amer Albarzawi depicts the duality of his existence since leaving Damascus in 2010: tangible memories coexist with vague ones within the digital world. This video installation captures a home that spans multiple time zones—from Damascus to Baghdad, via Istanbul and Paris—and finds its anchor in daily video calls with his family. Through a box of disassembled screen filters, viewers are immersed in a space of fragmented memories, representing his scattered family, reunited only within this digital home.

The work transforms the screens of simple projectors into windows onto lives lived in solitude, reflecting the intermittent and sometimes blurry connections that bind us together. It bears witness to long-distance communication and chronicles events experienced virtually: a wedding, an engagement, a beard growing, the intense absence of loss.

As technology blurs the boundaries between the present and the actor, *Hybrid Memory* raises the question of existence beyond the screen, where he and his family become the guardians of a divided yet profound reality. This work is an intimate account of digital echoes, an artistic exploration of the medium that sustains their fragmented union.
