Noisy and striking, the media artwork *Cyborg T.A.R.O.T.* (short for *Apophenic Teratology of Organic and Technological Rhizomes*) consists of an interactive installation offering a kinetic interpretation of a reimagined tarot deck. Each three-minute experience is personalized. The subject’s biometric data alters the arrangements produced by distorted generative AI models that remix the 19,270³ potential combinations. Rather than divination, each reading unfolds into a posthumanist exploration that blurs the boundaries between corporeality and becoming. In its metaphysical scope, the work is an investigation of noise, parasitic inputs, and sensory saturation as a gateway to the unintelligible.
Frédérick Maheux
Frédérick Maheux (Quebec) is an artist-researcher whose practice combines technological détournement, transgression, and posthumanist theory. He has explored online subcultures in the feature films *Art/Crime* (2011), ANA (2015), and DrugPorn (2018), and has explored the twists and turns of body horror in numerous short films, installations, and music videos that have been screened internationally. Since 2020, he has been exploring the labyrinthine world of experimental video games and AI-powered interactive installations, notably with *Acephalic* (2020) and *Exophilie* (2023). Under the alias Un Regard Froid (URF), he composes corrosive noise music and draws on the tactics of industrial culture through collage and abrasive performances. A doctoral student in communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Maheux analyzes the role of noise in creative and collaborative processes through video game-based research-creation.
