“Reinforced Learning ” is a video installation that combines humor and critical reflection to challenge future scenarios related to robotization and AI. It uses AI specialized in visual effects to replace humans with robotic humanoids in various “blooper videos.” The result is a series of videos in which it is not us, humans, but this time the robots, who engage in irrational and ineffective actions. They depict a strange future in which robots mimic our illogical behavior and challenge our widespread belief in their non-human capacity to achieve perfection. The title *Reinforced Learning* comes from the field of machine learning, in which algorithms learn by imitating specific actions. The algorithm receives a reward when it successfully mimics the intended action. This work depicts robots learning from “bad” input: human imperfection.
Jeroen van Loon
Jeroen van Loon is a Dutch artist who explores and visualizes contemporary digital culture through the lens of the ephemeral and the permanent. His work ranges from VR to video, including installations and performances.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as the Centre Pompidou, Transmediale, IDFA Doclab, Aksioma, NFF, Media Majlis Museum, Long March Space, Centraal Museum, HMKV | Dortmunder U, the IMPAKT Festival, the SPRING Performing Arts Festival, the Nemo Biennial, V2_, the KIKK Festival, and MU Artspace. His work has been acquired by the Verbeke Foundation and the Helmond Museum.
He received the K.F. Hein Art Scholarship, the European Youth Prize, was nominated for the New Technological Art Award (NTAA) in 2022 and 2025, was selected for the NFF’s Gouden Kalf for Digital Culture, and is part of the Brave New World Speaking Agency as a speaker on art and technology.
